Music Queens" graphic novel named winner of the Prix des Ados 2024
Revealed today before an assembly of 3,000 Normandy schoolchildren at the CID in Deauville, the graphic novel Music Queens was proclaimed winner of the Prix des Ados 2024 at the Festival Livres et Musiques.
Elected by an impressive assembly of over 5,700 middle and high school students from the five departments of Normandy, Music Queens is much more than a simple read; it's a plunge into the world of girl power and pop, told through iconic songs.
Produced with six hands, this graphic novel is the work of three talented women:
- Rebecca Manzoni, journalist and renowned producer of Totémic and Le Masque et la Plume on France Inter. She is also famous for her music programs Pop N'Co and Tubes N'Co on the same channel.
- Emilie Valentin, director and scriptwriter of documentaries and series, whose productions often focus on the lives of pioneering women firmly rooted in their times.
- Leslie Plée, a graduate of the École Estienne, who shared her early professional experiences in a now-famous blog, before embarking on a career as an author and illustrator.
Music Queens presents ten songs that have made history, ten female singers who have broken codes, revolutionized music and changed the way women are seen. Tonight, thousands of teenagers will be dreaming along with Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, Anne Sylvestre, Marianne Faithfull, Patti Smith, Blondie, Madonna, Bikini Kill, Queen Latifah and Beyoncé, the undisputed queens of this book.
