Vu[e]s de dos: when art reveals the invisible
On Saturday February 28, Les Franciscaines inaugurated the exhibition Vu[e]s de dos, une figure sans portrait, in front of a packed audience.
Never before in the history of art has the motif of the back been explored. A figure of mystery, withdrawal or contemplation, it crosses the centuries and questions our way of looking. The fruit of four years' research, this fascinating exhibition opens up a whole new field of analysis, inviting us all to take a fresh look at sometimes familiar works.
The opening was attended by Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville and President of the Franciscaines,Annie Madet-Vache, Director of the Musée des Franciscaines and curator of the exhibition, and Caroline Clémensat, General Manager of the Franciscaines.
On view until May 31, this remarkable exhibition promises a sensitive and erudite immersion into the heart of a subject as discreet as it is fascinating.
